Principal’s Message

This month the students of St. Hugh Catholic School will focus on learning the importance of respect.

Respect means treating others as you want to be treated. Respect is recognizing and responding to the God-given dignity of each person.

Jesus taught us something we call the “Golden Rule”. He said to treat others the way you want to be treated. We all want to be shown kindness and consideration. Our Catholic faith teaches us that we are made in the image and likeness of God. During this month, make it a point to treat others with the kind and respect that Jesus showed everyone he met.

Kinder & 1st Grade Attend Fire Safety Festival

October is fire prevention month and on October 14th our Kindergarten and first grade students attended the 29th Annual Children’s Fire Safety Festival at the Miami-Dade Training Facility in Doral.  Students had the opportunity to learn lifesaving fire safety techniques through interactive learning stations. Everyone had a great time.

Students of the Month

This month’s theme was respect and our students have been learning about the value of respect and how to show respect for themselves and others. Congratulations to our students of the month who were awarded with a special certificate during school mass. These students have shown respect for others and have made respect an intentional way of living their Catholic faith.

Academic Olympic Champions

Our eighth grade students and two seventh graders recently participated in the Christopher Columbus High School XXXVI Scholastic Olympics. They competed against more than 600 students from 20 different schools. In addition to winning 13 individual medals, the St. Hugh team was the overall winner in the Division 1 category and brought home the championship trophy for the second year in a row. They were selected for having the highest overall score amongst the other schools in their division. We are very proud of the accomplishments of our students and are grateful to our teachers for a job well done.
