This month the students, faculty, and staff of St. Hugh Catholic School will learn about the Catholic virtue of service.
Service is providing useful assistance or contributing to the welfare of another. Jesus called us to be of service to one another.
During this month while we celebrate Thanksgiving with our families, let us remember those that need our service. As students, parents, faculty, and staff we will be providing those in need with our time, talent, and treasures.
Red Ribbon Week
St. Hugh School recently celebrated national Red Ribbon Week with special themed days, activities and assemblies that focused on respecting yourself, being drug free and making healthy life choices.
Throughout the week, teachers emphasized the message in their classrooms and students attended age appropriate presentations from several community helpers. It was a successful week that encouraged students to be the best they can be.

We are blessed and proud to have such a great representation of our school. Following are the names of the students who won medals at the competition:
• Math: Carlos Cardenas, silver.
• Science: Fernanda Altamirano, silver.
• Social Studies: Sophia Ramirez Peralta, bronze.
• Art: Samuel Colmenares, silver.
• Speech: Alexandro Garces, gold & Isabella de Sousa, bronze.
Kindergartem Butterfly Prayer Service
As part of their science unit Kindergarten students have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly and were able to watch first-hand the metamorphosis in the classroom.
On October 28th they held a special prayer service dedicated to our Blessed Mother Mary. They gathered in front of the church to sing songs and pray together while they released the butterflies.
This was a wonderful learning experience for all the students.
